Circle E Ranch Blog Page

deep in the heart of the great state of Texas

June 9, 2015

This is Woody. I rescued him last February. He was almost starved to death. As you can see, he is no longer starving and, in fact, has decided he's going to be picky about what he eats. I was feeding him a special feed mixed with alfalfa pellets, sweet feed and crimped oats. He's decided he is not going to eat the alfalfa or the special feed. He will only eat sweet feed (a mixture of grains and molasses for horses) and crimped oats. He's become a beautiful, sweet horse who loves to be brushed. He stands perfectly still with his eyes closed while he's being brushed. The other horses have finally decided he can be part of the herd but he's still second from the bottom of the pecking order. (Donkey is at the bottom).

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals, Norma Epstein. I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera. I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
